Look Within
“I have a question for you:
Can someone find me a question they’ve never thought of before?
Why do you keep looking outside yourself,
Where the view appears so small,
And for too short a while?
Does it make you feel that you deserve it,
Or are you satisfied with small pieces?
Too tired to push for more,
You fall in, you shrink down,
As calm as a hand that doesn’t recognize its value.
Who told you your job is to please, to blend in,
When you actually blend in not only with one, but many?
You move about, jittery eyes unable to make contact,
And focus on the floor,
As if that is what you have to do to make it up to the ground.
Do you have to lower your neck and look somewhere else?
What cannot be seen?
You are looking for love,
But the heart is looking for what it has been looking for—
What love?
The one that was never external.
It is the love in your heart,
The beat that you have always chosen to overlook.
Now answer me this…”
